Carlo Acutis is born at the Portland Clinic in London, England.

May 18, 1991

Carlo receives the Sacrament of Baptism at Our Lady of Dolours, Chelsea, surrounded by his grandparents, aunt Adriana, and great-grandmother Adriana.

September 8, 1991

Carlo returns to Milan with his parents, who had been in London for work. Milan becomes the home of his childhood and youth.

Carlo attends nursery at the Parco Pagani municipal nursery school in Milan.

September 1997

He starts elementary school at the San Carlo Institute in Milan, then transfers after three months to the Tommaseo Institute of the Marcelline Sisters, where he will complete both elementary and middle school.

June 16, 1998

At the convent of the Romite Nuns of Sant’Ambrogio in Perego, Carlo receives his First Communion at the age of seven and begins his habit of daily Mass and Eucharistic adoration.

May 24, 2003

Carlo receives the Sacrament of Confirmation at his parish, Santa Maria Segreta in Milan.

September 2005

He begins attending classical high school at the Leone XIII Institute, run by the Jesuit Fathers, continuing to grow in study, friendship, and faith.

October 2, 2006

Carlo falls ill. At first, doctors think it is a common flu, but his condition quietly begins to worsen.

October 8, 2006

His condition deteriorates rapidly. He is taken to the De Marchi clinic in Milan, where he is diagnosed with fulminant M3 acute leukemia.

October 9, 2006

Carlo is moved to San Gerardo Hospital in Monza for intensive treatment as doctors struggle to respond to the aggressiveness of the disease.

October 10, 2006

Conscious of his approaching death, Carlo asks to receive the Anointing of the Sick and Holy Communion. He offers his sufferings for the pope and the Church.

October 11-12, 2006

On October 11, Carlo lapses into a coma due to a cerebral hemorrhage caused by leukemia. Doctors declare him clinically dead at 5:00 p.m. His heart stops beating the next morning, October 12, 2006, at 6:45 a.m.

October 14, 2006

Carlo’s funeral is held at Santa Maria Segreta in Milan. The church is so crowded that many mourners must remain outside.

January 2007

Honouring his wishes, Carlo’s body is transferred from the cemetery in Ternengo to Assisi, a city he deeply loved.

October 12, 2012

The diocesan cause for the beatification and canonization of Carlo Acutis officially opens, and he is given the title Servant of God.

May 13, 2013

The Holy See grants the Nihil Obstat to Carlo’s cause, allowing the process toward beatification and canonization to continue.

November 24, 2016

The diocesan phase of the cause concludes at the Archbishopric of Milan in the presence of Cardinal Angelo Scola.

July 5, 2018

Pope Francis recognizes Carlo’s heroic virtues and declares him Venerable, acknowledging his exemplary life of holiness.

Carlo’s body is exhumed as part of the canonical process and preparation for public veneration.

His body is transferred to the Sanctuary of the Stripping of Christ (Santuario della Spogliazione) in Assisi.
